Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo Announces CEO Transition

Fort McMurray, Alberta (September 11, 2026) - The Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) is announcing a leadership transition as Graig Walsh will be stepping down from the role of Chief Executive Officer effective October 2, 2026.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors, I want to thank Graig for his leadership and contributions to the organization and the community,” said Chris Pirie, Chair of the RRC Board of Directors. “During his time with the RRC, Graig successfully guided the organization through several challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and 2020 Fort McMurray flood, and achieved significant success in all areas during his tenure, including ensuring a strong, sustainable financial position for the organization as well as outstanding safety performance. We are grateful for his commitment to helping us inspire Wood Buffalo to gather, play and connect, and working with our many partners to achieve our vision of creating community together.”

The Board of Directors has appointed Kelly Dela Ronde as Interim Chief Executive Officer, effective September 11, 2026, to ensure continuity of leadership and operations.

“Since joining the RRC in 2013, Kelly has taken on progressively broader responsibilities and has developed extensive knowledge of the organization and its operations. She brings a strong combination of experience, leadership and organizational knowledge to the role and is well-positioned to provide continuity and maintain the positive momentum of the organization. The Board has full confidence in Kelly’s ability to lead the RRC through this transition,” said Chris Pirie.

The RRC remains focused on delivering high-quality programs, services, and experiences. This leadership transition will not impact day-to-day operations, and the organization will continue to advance its strategic priorities.

“The RRC is a strong organization with a dedicated team and a clear vision for the future,” added Chris Pirie. “We remain committed to working with our partners, stakeholders, and the communities we serve to achieve our mission and realize our vision.”
