MacDonald Island Park Running Track Gets an Energy Boost Through ATT Electric Partnership
(Fort McMurray, August 20, 2026) – The Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) is excited to announce a new partnership at the ATT Electric Running Track at MacDonald Island Park.
Located on the third floor of the Suncor Community Leisure Centre, the ATT Electric Running Track hosts thousands of runners, joggers, walkers and strollers year-round. This multi-demographic amenity is home to programming for many community groups, including local seniors.
“At ATT Electric, Fort McMurray is more than where we do business - it’s home. Being part of this community means giving back and creating opportunities for people of all ages. Sport is a big part of my family’s life. My children, now 16 and 18, have grown up participating in cycling with the Fort McMurray Cycling Club, hockey, martial arts, dance and volleyball. I’ve seen firsthand how accessible recreation helps people stay active, build confidence, create friendships, and feel connected to our community. We’re proud to support a facility that brings our community together, and especially proud that this partnership will help make recreation more accessible to children and youth in Wood Buffalo,” said Dawn Ohama, ATT Electric Owner and Master Electrician.
This new partnership will also contribute towards the RRC-hosted WB Kids program, which receives 5% of all amenity partnerships to ensure it can work to reduce financial barriers to participation in sport, recreation and culture programming for Wood Buffalo children and youth.
“One of our RRC strategic priorities is collaboration and forming alliances with other organizations as we work to achieve our vision of creating community together,” said Graig Walsh, RRC CEO. “We are delighted to welcome local business ATT Electric as a new partner at the Island and this opportunity to join forces in providing spaces where Wood Buffalo can gather, play, and connect!”
