RRC and Inter Pipeline Celebrate New Partnership at the Inter Pipeline Fitness Centre
(Fort McMurray, AB – September 10, 2025) – The Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) is proud to announce a new five-year amenity partnership with Inter Pipeline for the Inter Pipeline Fitness Centre One and Two, located in the Suncor Community Leisure Centre (SCLC) at MacDonald Island Park.
This new agreement not only strengthens the connection between Inter Pipeline and the Wood Buffalo region but also marks the upcoming official opening of Inter Pipeline Fitness Centre Two, an exciting expansion of the facility that soft opened earlier this summer and will celebrate its grand opening on September 20, 2025. Inter Pipeline Fitness Centre Two acts as an additional experience complement for Inter Pipeline Fitness Centre One, which originally opened as part of the MIP expansion project and grand opening of the SCLC in 2010.
“The Inter Pipeline Fitness Centre is one of the most valued amenities at MacDonald Island Park, welcoming over 290,000 visits annually and serving our 10,000+ members,” said Graig Walsh, Chief Executive Officer of the RRC. “With the expansion now open, we’re proud to offer even more space, equipment, and opportunities for our community to focus on health and wellness. We’re grateful to Inter Pipeline for their investment in the wellbeing of Wood Buffalo.”
The Inter Pipeline Fitness Centre plays a vital role in inspiring Wood Buffalo to gather, play, and connect. The expansion provides additional stretching space, enhanced strength training areas, and more cardio equipment, helping to meet growing demand.
As part of the partnership, 5% of Inter Pipeline’s contribution supports the WB Kids program, ensuring children and youth in the region have access to sport, recreation, and cultural opportunities regardless of household income. Inter Pipeline also supports community initiatives including the Inter Pipeline Fort McMurray Marathon and is an amenity partner at the Inter Pipeline Indoor Playground in Conklin.
“Inter Pipeline is proud of its place in the community of Wood Buffalo, and we see this sponsorship as an opportunity to build on our longstanding partnership with the RRC while investing in the health of a community that is vital to both our organization, Alberta and beyond,” said Cory Neufeld, Senior Vice President, NGL, Inter Pipeline.
With this announcement, the RRC and Inter Pipeline celebrate a shared commitment to building a healthy, active, and connected community - one workout, one race, and one smile at a time.
