“Raining on Dreams” exhibition now on display at the Kirschner Family Community Art Gallery
(Fort McMurray – October 4, 2023) – This October the Kirschner Family Community Art Gallery at MacDonald Island Park is pleased to welcome Raining on Dreams, an exhibition featuring original art work by local resident Lasha Barbosa.
Lasha has overcome extraordinary challenges to forge a unique creative path. Her journey encompasses a triumphant battle against brain tumors, chronic pain, and mental health hurdles.
In 2019, Lasha emerged from a life-altering brain surgery that demanded her to rebuild fundamental motor and cognitive functions. Guided by her devoted husband and caregiver, Christopher, what began as therapy soon evolved into an all-encompassing passion for the arts. Today, Lasha's original artworks grace homes around the world, a testament to her unwavering spirit and the transformative power of artistic expression. Her story is one of courage, resilience, and the remarkable journey from adversity to becoming a thriving Fine Artist.
The Raining on Dreams exhibition presents a captivating portrayal of Lasha’s personal odyssey, intertwining life's hardships with a touch of enchantment. This collection delves into the intriguing juxtaposition of past traumas and present aspirations, revealing a world that is both unsettling and beguiling.
The highlight of the exhibition is the original drawings for Tineesha and the Baby Dinos, a children’s book authored by the exhibiting artist. The book is an illustrated story that seamlessly interweaves American Sign Language (ASL).
Raining on Dreams will be available for viewing from October 4 to October 30, 2023.
