Baseball Canada 18U National Championship presented by Fort McMurray 468 First Nation Economic Development Returns to Fort McMurray This Summer

(Fort McMurray, AB, May 22, 2026) - Baseball Canada is stepping back up to the plate in Fort McMurray this summer as one of the country’s premier youth baseball tournaments returns to Wood Buffalo.

Through the continued partnership between the Fort McMurray Minor Baseball Association (FMMBA) and the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC), the Baseball Canada 18U National Championship presented by Fort McMurray 468 First Nation Economic Development, will return August 13-16, 2026 at Legacy Dodge Field at MacDonald Island Park and Ross Hennigar Park in Thickwood.

“We are excited to welcome back the Baseball Canada 18U Championship once again this August,” said Mike Mayuk, FMMBA President and Baseball Canada 18U National Championship presented by FM468 FN Economic Development Host Committee Co-Chair. “We are so grateful to Baseball Canada for choosing us to host this tournament once again, the community for embracing the Baseball Canada events we have delivered in Fort McMurray, and for all the partners and volunteers who support bringing this event to life. We look forward to seeing everyone in August for another weekend of amazing baseball action!”

The event continues a strong tradition of national baseball in the region, following successful championships hosted in 2016, 2018, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025. Last year’s tournament saw the local 18U AAA Oil Giants capture the program’s first-ever national medal with a bronze medal finish in front of hometown fans. In additional exciting news, Fort McMurray has been confirmed as the Host Community for future Baseball Canada events in 2028 (Women’s 19U), 2029 (Women’s 19U), 2030 (18U) and 2031 (18U).

Teams from across Canada will compete in several days of high-level baseball action as athletes chase a national championship title. Tournament passes go on sale on Friday June 5.
