RRC excited to announce new partnership with UA Local 488 at MacDonald Island Park

(Fort McMurray, January 15, 2024) – The Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) is excited to announce a new partnership with UA Local 488 at MacDonald Island Park.

“UA Local 488 firmly believes that our strength emanates from our community. In fostering a partnership with the RRC, we are dedicated to contributing towards the creation of a space where residents, that include our Union Members, can gather, play, and connect, ultimately working together to help the community flourish,” said Rod Mckay, Business Manager of UA Local 488.

UA Local 488 is the proud title partner of the UA Local 488 Gymnasium (formerly known as the badminton centre at Shell Place). The UA Local 488 Gymnasium provides integral services to the community such as space for drop-in sports, community programs and user groups. UA Local 488 has entered into a five-year agreement with the RRC for this amenity as well as a golf hole at the Miskanaw Golf Club.

“We are pleased to welcome UA Local 488 to MacDonald Island Park as a new amenity partner,” said Graig Walsh, RRC CEO. “UA Local 488 supported the 2023 Monster Truck Nitro Tour as a partner in 2023, and we are excited that they have now chosen to partner with us on the UA Local 488 Gymnasium, further supporting recreation in the community.”
