Fort McMurray to host Baseball Canada championship tournaments in 2024, 2025 and 2026
(Fort McMurray, AB, November 20, 2023) – The Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) and Fort McMurray Minor Baseball Association (FMMBA) are delighted to share that in addition to the previously announced 2024 Baseball Canada Cup Championship, the 2025 and 2026 Baseball Canada 18U Championships will also be hosted in Fort McMurray.
“We are thrilled to welcome Baseball Canada back to Fort McMurray not only in 2024, but also in 2025 and 2026,” said Mike Mayuk, FMMBA President. “Over the past several years, we have had the opportunity to welcome hundreds of athletes, coaches, support staff, officials and visitors to the region to enjoy Baseball Canada events, and we are excited to continue this for the next three years.”
The RRC and FMMBA have partnered to deliver several Baseball Canada events in Fort McMurray, including in 2016, 2018, 2022, and 2023.
“We have developed an incredibly strong collaborative relationship with FMMBA as we brought these events to the community,” said Jodie Cooper, RRC Director of Sport and Recreation. “We have also developed a similar relationship with Baseball Canada, and we are excited to continue to grow this relationship as we bring even more elite level baseball events to Fort McMurray.”
The 2024 Baseball Canada Cup will take place in Fort McMurray from Aug 7-11, 2024. The 2025 Baseball Canada 18U Championship will take place from August 14-17, 2025, and the 2026 Baseball Canada 18U Championship will take place from August 13-16, 2026.
Baseball Canada CEO Jason Dickson said: "Baseball Canada is thrilled to see Fort McMurray as hosts for the 2025 & 2026 Baseball Canada 18U Championships where some of the top 18U players in the country will compete for a National Championship. With a proven track record of hosting quality events and the city's appetite for top notch baseball, we know it will be a success."
