Music legend John Fogerty brings “Rollin’ on the River” tour to Shell Place

The Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo is pleased to announce rock legend John Fogerty will perform live in concert at Shell Place at MacDonald Island Park on Sunday, October 23.

“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome John Fogerty to SMS Equipment Stadium at Shell Place this fall,” said Annette Antoniak, Chief Executive Officer of the RRC. “This tour, which includes hits from Creedence Clearwater Revival, is a great opportunity for residents to enjoy a legendary musical performer in our home community.”

2016 Baseball Canada Cup concludes on August 7 with Gold Medal game at Shell Place

The 2016 Baseball Canada Cup concluded on Sunday, August 7, after 35 tournament games and several hours of exciting baseball action.

In the Gold Medal game, it was Team Saskatchewan over Team British Columbia with a score of 6-1, closing out a successful tournament and bringing to an end a tremendous event that celebrated top calibre national youth baseball. The 2016 Baseball Canada Cup games were held at the Baseball Stadium at Shell Place and Ross Hennigar Ball Park in Fort McMurray and featured provincial teams of top under-17 baseball players from across the country.

Parking lot improvements taking place at MacDonald Island Park this summer

The Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) would like to advise visitors, guests and community members that improvements, including the addition of new parking spaces, will be taking place this summer in the parking lot at MacDonald Island Park.

Beginning on Monday, July 25, construction will commence in the parking lots at MacDonald Island Park. This parking lot improvement project will include several phases, with expected increased activity in the lot as crews complete the work.

Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo welcomes new Executive Chef to the team

The Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) is delighted to announce it is welcoming local resident Ken Bowie to the team as the new Executive Chef.

Bowie, well known in the region from his tenure as Executive Sous Chef at the Sawridge Inn and Conference Centre and Executive Chef at the Best Western Plus Sawridge Suites, is also active in the community with social profit organizations such as the Wood Buffalo Food Bank and Centre of Hope.
