The participants of the 2016 Fort McMurray Half Marathon hit the streets on Sunday as they took part in the fourth annual half marathon event in downtown Fort McMurray.
Registration for the Fort McMurray Half Marathon, which takes place this year on Sunday, September 18, will remain open until September 8. The Fort McMurray Half Marathon is a partnership between the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) and the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC).
MacDonald Island Park will welcome the arrival of the 2016 fall season in Fort McMurray with Oktoberfest presented by Don Scott McMurray Law Office on September 30.
Oktoberfest, which is marked around the world as a celebration of Bavarian culture, will make its inaugural appearance in the Wood Buffalo region at the Suncor Community Leisure Centre at MacDonald Island Park. This one night only event will feature German food, live music, and a variety of beer offerings.

The 2016 Baseball Canada Cup concluded on Sunday, August 7, after 35 tournament games and several hours of exciting baseball action.
In the Gold Medal game, it was Team Saskatchewan over Team British Columbia with a score of 6-1, closing out a successful tournament and bringing to an end a tremendous event that celebrated top calibre national youth baseball. The 2016 Baseball Canada Cup games were held at the Baseball Stadium at Shell Place and Ross Hennigar Ball Park in Fort McMurray and featured provincial teams of top under-17 baseball players from across the country.
