The Craze presented by Syncrude is back for another year of free family fun to celebrate the end of 2018 and the arrival of 2019. The Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) is excited to welcome the community for a day of activities and celebration.
From 12 – 5 p.m. on December 31st families can enjoy free events and activities for all ages at the Suncor Community Leisure Centre and Shell Place. The day will end with the Annual New Year’s Eve Fireworks display at 5:35 p.m.

The number one kids’ toy in North America is live and on stage in Shopkins Live! Shop It Up! for two shows on March 23, 2019, taking place at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
The winter programming season will begin at MacDonald Island Park on January 7, 2019, and it includes a full range of classes for children, youth and adults.

Baseball Canada announces Fort McMurray as the host community for the 2020 Baseball Canada Cup. The event will operate as a partnership between the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) and the Fort McMurray Minor Baseball Association (FMMBA).
Teams from across the country will compete at both Shell Place Baseball Diamond and Ross Hennigar Park. The tournament is set to take place August 5-9, 2020.
MacDonald Island Park is honoured to serve as the host venue for the annual Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 165 Remembrance Day ceremony on Sunday, November 11. Remembrance Day 2018 marks the 100-year anniversary of the signing of the armistice.

Hundreds of runners will participate in the Fort McMurray Marathon on Sunday, September 16, 2018. Late registration is now open, prospective participants are asked to register quickly to secure their spot on race day. In person registration officially closes September 12 with online registration closing September 9 at 11:59 p.m.
