On Friday, September 6, the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) welcomed partners and stakeholders for a Golf Tournament event that celebrated the on-going commitment to recreation within the region. The Miskanaw Golf Club welcomed approximately 120 of the RRC’s supporters from organizations, community groups and Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) representatives.
“Each year the RRC has the opportunity to collaborate and connect with partners from across the region with the common goal of making this community an amazing and vibrant place to live through recreation,” said Graig Walsh, RRC CEO. “It is important that we take the time to recognize and celebrate these partners for their dedication, their support paves the way for guests to create memories and have fun.”
The event highlighted the following partners who have joined the RRC in a new collaboration or renewed an existing partnership in 2019: Wolf MidStream, Brock Group, Clean Harbors, Enbridge, Fort McMurray Tax & Accounting, HSE Integrated, Inter Pipeline, Keyera. Legacy Dodge Fort McMurray, Mistras/RAC Group, Syncrude, Suncor, Pepsi, Kirschner Family Corporation, Burnco Rock Products, United Rentals and Summit GM.
The Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo was created by Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo Council in October, 2012 to operate several state-of-the-art community recreation, sport and event facilities and venues. The RRC was officially incorporated under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act on June 10, 2013.
RRC supported facilities include MacDonald Island Park, the Anzac Recreation Centre presented by CNOOC, Sonny Flett Aquatic Centre and the Conklin Multiplex, these facilities form the foundation for community recreation, sport and events in the Wood Buffalo region.
Working in collaboration with the RMWB, partners and with the residents it serves, the RRC strives to be the place where communities gather, play and connect, creating memories that last a lifetime.
