(Fort McMurray, AB, September 14, 2017) - Community Registration Day presented by Syncrude brought hundreds of community members to Shell Place at MacDonald Island Park on Saturday, September 9 as they explored the many opportunities for involvement in sports, recreation, culture, arts, and other groups and organizations in the Wood Buffalo region. Community Registration Day is presented in partnership with FuseSocial.

“FuseSocial looks forward to participating in the Community Registration Day every year.  We were excited to showcase to the groups how to create unlikely partnerships and enjoyed watching them benefit from great conversation over a fantastic breakfast sponsored by Suncor.  Suncor has always been, and continues to be a champion of community building in our region, and our social profit community appreciates every opportunity to come together to learn from and support each other,” said Bonnah Carey, Chief Social Entrepreneur of FuseSocial.

Community Registration Day is a trade show format showcase of local groups and organizations, allowing them to connect directly with the community in a one-stop shop event. The annual event is designed to assist community members in engaging with local organizations and groups while also learning how they can become involved.

“Community Registration Day was another terrific success this year with several groups and organizations participating and connecting with community members,” said Rachel Orser, Interim Chief Executive Officer of the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo. “We were delighted to partner with FuseSocial once again to deliver this event. A special thank you is due to Syncrude Canada, the presenting partner of Community Registration Day, Suncor Energy for their support of the Networking Breakfast, and Enbridge for their support of the Exhibitor Lunch. Most importantly, thank you to all the community members who joined us to learn more about local organizations and groups, and how they can become involved in our community!”
